Since 1974, Global Launch at Arizona State University has offered ASU’s intensive English language program for any learner of any proficiency level.
Our team of global educators and staff members have helped more than 130,000 students achieve their language goals through innovative and immersive in-person and online courses and cultural experiences. Global Launch is proud to be part of the top 1% of the world’s most prestigious universities.
Global Launch offers more than just English. You will gain confidence to communicate in social and academic settings, participate in group projects, write academic papers, and give university-level presentations.
Global Launch allows international learners of any background an equal opportunity to receive an innovative and immersive English language education from a world-renowned American university.
The Global Launch English language program is developed for a wide range of learners at the basic, intermediate and advanced levels. In each course, all students will learn and improve upon the four core competencies of reading, writing, listening and speaking.
When you apply for Global Launch, you will choose to learn in the Global Launch Campus Immersion or Online Immersion English language program.
Once you are admitted to Global Launch, you will take a placement test to determine which level you will begin your English studies. There are six levels and it takes eight weeks to complete each level. Short term, 4-week study is available to campus immersion students only.
When you complete the highest level of the Global Launch English language program with a passing grade of B- (80%) or better, you will receive a certificate of completion that will satisfy the English language requirement for admission to Arizona State University’s undergraduate and graduate* degree programs.
Take our free online placement test to determine how long you may be in the Global Launch English language program. You will still be required to take the official placement test upon admission.
The world is always changing, and access to a high-quality education in America may not be possible for all learners. At Arizona State University, we believe in the power of using innovative technology to provide and enhance the learning experience for any student located anywhere in the world.

Basic knowledge of the English language as well as skills like interacting with your classmates, speaking to your teachers, giving presentations and more are necessary to be successful at a top American university like Arizona State University.
These university skills cannot be measured or taught through tests like the TOEFL, IELTS or PTE. In fact, research shows that students who learn these extra skills do better in their university classes than other first-time ASU international students.
Students who graduate from Global Launch earn a higher GPA in their university classes than other first-time ASU international students.
Global Launch is an accredited member of the American Association of Intensive English Programs.
