Campus Immersion FAQs

Tuition, student services and technology fees, and health insurance must be paid in full by the 5th day of classes. You can pay using Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, traveler's checks or cash. Your tuition and fees will be posted to your MyASU > Finances account. Visit ASU's billing page for more information.

Please know that the application fee is non-refundable. 

 

Yes. Students must pay a $650 enrollment deposit at the time of New Student Registration.

You must have your passport, visa, I-20 (if you are an F-1 student), measles vaccination record, and method of payment for your enrollment deposit.

  • Tell your student advisor that you want to transfer to the Global Launch English program. You should tell your advisor BEFORE you finish your current program.
  • Submit your online application, non-refundable application fee, passport copy and statement of financial guarantee.
  • Download and print the Global Launch F-1 Transfer-In Form, sign it, and ask your current school's student advisor to complete it.
  • Send a copy, or have your advisor send a copy, of the completed F-1 Status Verification form to Global Launch.

You are eligible for the part-time incidental study. However, please note: if you begin studying in Global Launch while on a B visa (B-1, B-2), visa waiver, or border crossing card, a change to F-1 student status will not be possible unless you first exit the U.S., apply for and receive an F-1 student visa, and then re-enter the U.S. using the F-1 visa.

Your course level is determined by your Global Launch English placement test score. Students do not determine their own placement. You will be tested on reading, writing, listening, speaking, grammar and vocabulary. 

Yes, all students are required to take the placement test. Students cannot choose their level. Students will not be able to enroll in classes until the placement is taken.

You will receive your class level and schedule during orientation after you take the placement test. 

The fees pay for all Global Launch activities and use of all campus facilities except the Sun Devil Fitness Complex (SDFC) (SDFC membership costs $100 per semester or $25 per month). Please know that the application fee is non-refundable. 

No. Global Launch will waive the non-refundable application fee for our English Language program for applicants who are Conditionally Admitted to Arizona State University.

If you are not a Conditionally Admitted ASU student, the application fee is not refundable.

Yes, students can purchase a meal plan or buy meals individually. There are many cafeterias and restaurants on campus and within walking distance. Go to ASU's Sun Devil Dining page for more information.

Global Launch does not offer any financial aid or scholarships.

Yes, you can study part time in our Campus Immersion program. You will take classes for up to 12 hours per week. If you have questions about whether you are eligible for part time study, speak with a Global Launch advisor.

F-1 students are eligible to work on campus a maximum of 20 hours per week. Global Launch F-1 students are generally not authorized to work off campus. If an F-1 student works off campus this will risk their F-1 immigration status and may result in departure from the U.S. If you have any questions about what jobs you can accept, speak with a Global Launch advisor for information.

ASU requires all students to submit proof of 2 measles vaccinations or a blood test showing proof of measles immunity. Immunizations and lab tests are offered at all ASU Health Services locations. ASU Campus Health Center

If you are conditionally admitted to Arizona State University, you may NOT take classes at ASU while you are at Global Launch.

Yes. All students with F-1 visas are required to buy health insurance through Global Launch unless they provide proof of the alternate ASU-approved health insurance. For questions, contact GlobalLaunch@asu.edu.

Unfortunately, we do not accept payment by mail. The non-refundable application fee must be paid online. Once you complete your application online, you will receive a link to pay your non-refundable application fee.

  • Students who successfully complete the Advanced 2 level receive a program Certificate of Completion from Arizona State University’s Global Launch program.
  • Students who successfully complete a special group program receive a program certificate.

Yes, you can register for the next Global Launch session while you are attending classes in the English Language program. 

The $125 online non-refundable application fee may be paid by credit card or via wire transfer through Flywire

In the Online Immersion program, you will have a class schedule, a live class experience, a teacher to speak with and other students learning with you. When you complete the courses you will have gained new English skills. These courses meet ASU’s language proficiency requirement.

In Self-Paced English, you will study as your schedule allows and submit your online coursework as assigned. When you complete the course, you will have gained new English skills. These courses offer a certificate of completion but do not meet ASU’s language proficiency requirement.

Yes, you can participate in the Online Immersion program outside the U.S.  Students, if eligible for full-time study, may participate in the Online Immersion program from anywhere in the world, as long as they meet daily requirements for online attendance, participation, classwork, etc.

Depending on your visa category and U.S immigration status, you may be eligible to study in the Online Immersion program from inside the U.S. Global Launch does not provide documentation of study-eligible status for participating in the Online Immersion program from inside the U.S. F-1 students are not eligible for full-time only study inside the U.S.

Yes, all students in our Online and Campus Immersion program need to pay the $650 enrollment deposit at the time of New Student Registration.

You must have daily access to a computer or laptop, a strong internet connection, and a functioning microphone, speaker and camera. You will be required to attend Zoom classes and to participate with camera on.

Students inside the U.S who are F-1 students are not eligible to participate in the Online Immersion Program.

Yes. The Online Immersion program includes 11 hours each week of real-time interaction with the teacher and classmates, plus 10 hours a week of self-study exercises assigned by the teacher. You can also meet the teacher during office hours and receive personalized support from a tutor. 

Attendance and participation in class are an important part of the learning process. If you do not attend class, you will not learn the skills necessary to move to the next level. Absences and missed class time will negatively impact course grades.

Yes! Join the Global Launch Activities Team on Zoom for an online activities experience. Have fun meeting other Global Launch students, staff and helpers!

If you want to change from Online Immersion to the Campus Immersion program, please email globallaunch@asu.edu one month before you wish to change.

Because both programs offer the same learning outcomes, you can switch easily between Online Immersion and Campus Immersion. Your advisor will help you follow U.S. Immigration requirements.

The online immersion program will be held on the following schedule. Please align your time zone with the following times:

Online Immersion applicants must be at least 16 years old. No parental consent or high school graduation required.

Tuition and fees will be charged to your MyASU account. You will be able to access this account after you register for classes. You can then pay by credit card or bank transfer, all online.

Global Launch does not offer a part-time option for the Online Immersion program at this time. Students in the Online Immersion program will study 21 hours per week. For students interested in part time study and reduced hours, Global Launch offers Quick Launch group English courses with 3 hours of live classroom instruction and 5 to 7 hours of self-study each week.
