Hear from Gwen, one of our language learning specialists, who shares her study tips and advice to maximize your learning experience.

Why Arizona State University?
The linguistics department is really great and ASU has a Korean language and studies program.
Where do you like to study?
I like to study at the libraries on campus.
What advice would you give to English language learners at Global Launch?
I always tell our students to practice speaking as much as they can with each other even if they have the same first language. I also encourage them to always come to tutoring for help or just to practice.
What study skills, tips, or resources do you recommend to Global Launch students?
I always recommend that students read articles or book passages and highlight words they don’t know. Then look up the words and learn what they mean. I also recommend them to use websites like YouTube to just watch videos in English and practice their understanding of English that way.
How do Learning Specialists support Global Launch students?
As a Learning Specialist I am both a tutor and teacher for Global Launch students. I teach some of the Global Launch Communication classes. As well as leading tutoring (almost daily!) at Global Launch. This allows me to be very hands on in the students' learning process and I am able to support them in their learning journey.
As an ASU student and Global Launch Learning Specialist, what advice would you share with a Global Launch student preparing to apply to ASU?
I would say that they need to stay on top of their work. Turning in all their assignments and being ready for class each day is so important for overall success.
