Conditional Admission to ASU

What is conditional admission?

Arizona State University (ASU) gives "Conditional Admission" to students who have applied to ASU who have the academic skills and abilities to be successful at ASU, but do not yet have the English language test results (TOEFL, IELTS or PTE) required to attend the University.

Conditional Admission will allow you to improve your English before attending ASU. Your Conditional Admission offer will expire after three semesters.

Before your offer expires, you can do one of these two things to fulfill the English requirement:

Step 1. Apply to an ASU undergraduate program.

Step 2. Submit your application documents.

  • Submit the $85 application fee.
  • Send your official transcripts from your school(s) to ASU Admission Services. (Learn more about how to apply to ASU).

Step 3. Receive your conditional admission letter from ASU.

Step 4. Apply to your chosen Global Launch English program. 

  • After successfully completing the program, you will satisfy the English language requirement to become fully admitted to ASU.

Students who successfully complete the Advanced 2 level of their Global Launch English program will receive a TOEFL waiver. This means that you will not need a TOEFL score to complete your admission to Arizona State University.

English Language Program - Campus or Online Immersion

For both Campus and Online Immersion, Global Launch offers six levels, from Basic to Advanced, and it takes 8 weeks to complete each level. You will take an English placement test to discover your language level.

English for Admission and Achievement

The English for Admission and Achievement online course, designed for advanced English learners, is fast-paced and completed in 8 weeks.

It is fully online with no required live class sessions, giving you maximum flexibility. Because there are no set meeting times, students are expected to log in regularly to stay current with assignments, discussions and coursework.
