Admission requirements
The Campus Immersion English Language Program is open to learners at all English levels, from beginner to advanced.
To be eligible, applicants must be at least 18 years old, or 17 years old with proof of high school graduation and parental consent. No TOEFL, IELTS, PTE, or other English proficiency test is required to apply.

Campus Immersion is ideal for:
- Future international students who want to succeed at an American university and prepare for degree study abroad on campus at ASU.
- Professionals seeking to improve their workplace English communication skills.
- Learners seeking a culturally immersive learning experience with flexible start dates and program lengths.
You can choose to attend just one 4-week or 8-week session to practice your English, or you can continue through the entire program to earn your certificate. It takes 48 weeks to complete all 6 levels in the program; the level you start in will be determined by the English placement test.
Your course level is determined by your Global Launch English placement test score. Students do not determine their own placement. You will be tested on reading, writing, listening, speaking, grammar and vocabulary.
The English placement test is required for all new students. Another English test (TOEFL, IELTS, etc.) cannot be used in place of the Global Launch English placement test.
To get an idea of what your English level might be, take our free online English placement test. (Please note: this is a practice test only; you will take the official placement exam to determine your English level before starting the program).
You will receive your class level and schedule during orientation. Students must take the placement test prior to orientation to receive a class schedule.
Registration for the next session will happen while you are attending classes in the English Language Program.
You must have your passport, financial guarantee and a method of payment for the application fee.
If you will be bringing dependents (children or spouse) or are working with an agent, you should provide the relevant information for them as well.

Yes, students who successfully complete the Advanced 2 level with grades of 80% or higher receive a program Certificate of Completion from Arizona State University’s Global Launch program.
Students who successfully complete a special group program receive a program certificate. This certificate can be used to meet the English proficiency requirement for most ASU degree programs.
Tuition and fees
Tuition, student services and technology fees, and health insurance must be paid in full by the 25th day of the month your session starts.
You can pay using Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, traveler's checks or cash. Your tuition and fees will be posted to your My ASU > Finances account. Visit ASU's billing page for more information.
Please know that the application fee is non-refundable.
Yes, the enrollment deposit keeps your place in our program. It will be applied toward your overall tuition cost. The enrollment deposit can be paid in your My GL account.
If you are a sponsored student, you do not need to pay the enrollment deposit.
The fees pay for all Global Launch activities and use of all campus facilities except the Sun Devil Fitness Complex (SDFC) (SDFC membership costs $100 per semester or $25 per month). Please know that the application fee is non-refundable.
No. Global Launch will waive the non-refundable application fee for our Campus Immersion English Language Program for applicants who are Conditionally Admitted to Arizona State University.
If you are not a Conditionally Admitted ASU student, you must pay the application fee; it is not refundable.
The $125 online non-refundable application fee may be paid by credit card or via wire transfer through Flywire.
Unfortunately, we do not accept payment by fax or mail. The non-refundable application fee must be paid online. Once you complete your application online, you will receive a link to pay your non-refundable application fee.
The tuition cost for a 4-week session is 75% of the tuition for an 8-week session, plus fees. Students who sign up for two consecutive 4-week sessions will pay this amount twice. See Costs for more information.
Students
You are eligible for the part-time incidental study. However, please note: if you begin studying in Global Launch while on a B visa (B-1, B-2), visa waiver, or border crossing card, a change to F-1 student status will not be possible unless you first exit the U.S., apply for and receive an F-1 student visa, and then re-enter the U.S. using the F-1 visa.
- Tell your student advisor that you want to transfer to the Global Launch English program. You should tell your advisor BEFORE you finish your current program.
- Submit your online application, non-refundable application fee, passport copy and statement of financial guarantee.
- Download and print the Global Launch F-1 Transfer-In Form, sign it, and ask your current school's student advisor to complete it.
- Send a copy, or have your advisor send a copy, of the completed F-1 Status Verification form to Global Launch.
F-1 students are required to study full time. Other types of students (B visa, visa waiver, permanent resident, etc.) may be eligible for part time study.

F-1 students are eligible to work on campus (only at the bookstore or in food service) a maximum of 20 hours per week. Global Launch F-1 students are generally not authorized to work off campus. If an F-1 student works off campus this will risk their F-1 immigration status and may result in departure from the U.S. If you have any questions about what jobs you can accept, speak with a Global Launch advisor for information.
F-1 students attending the Global Launch Campus Immersion program are generally not eligible to take ASU classes concurrently. Other students may be eligible depending on their immigration status.
To take ASU classes, you must submit a complete application to ASU and meet all admission requirements, including proof of English proficiency. If you are interested in taking ASU classes while in Global Launch, please contact an advisor.
F-1 students are required to take classes in-person while they are inside the United States.To see if you are eligible to switch from Campus to Online Immersion, please email [email protected].
International students at ASU can take Global Launch classes if they obtain a permission letter from ISSC. Global Launch courses are non-credit and do not impact GPA or meet ASU degree requirements. For F-1 students and J-1 exchange visitors at ASU, any Global Launch classes must be taken in addition to their full-time ASU schedule in order to meet the enrollment requirement for maintaining status. Individuals here in other visa categories may be eligible to take Global Launch classes depending on their visa category. For more detailed guidance, contact Global Launch.
Health
ASU requires all students to submit proof of 2 measles vaccinations or a blood test showing proof of measles immunity. Immunizations and lab tests are offered at all ASU Health Services locations. See ASU Campus Health Center.
Yes. All students with F-1 visas are required to buy health insurance through Global Launch unless they provide proof of the alternate ASU-approved health insurance. For questions, contact [email protected].
Housing and dining
Once you have been admitted to Global Launch and have activated your ASU student account, you can submit an application for a dorm in your housing portal. More information can be found on the Housing page.
Yes, Global Launch students can choose to live off campus, including in student apartments or homestays. More information can be found on the Housing page.
Yes, there are several dining halls and restaurants on campus. Students can purchase a meal plan or buy meals individually. Visit ASU Sun Devil Dining's Meal Plan Overview for more information on meal plan options.
For students participating in short-term programs (4 to 8 weeks), it can be difficult to find a dorm or apartment that will rent a room for a short period of time. Because of this, we recommend these students stay at a homestay or a hotel. You can find more information on homestays and hotels on the Housing page.
