Admission requirements
The Online Immersion program is open to learners at all English levels and can be accessed from anywhere in the world.
Applicants under 16 must provide parental consent or proof of high school graduation. No TOEFL, IELTS, PTE, or other English proficiency test is required to apply.
To participate, students should have:
- A laptop or tablet with a camera and microphone
- A reliable internet connection
Online Immersion is ideal for:
- International students preparing for degree study at Arizona State University.
- Students who want to study online now and transition to Campus Immersion later.
- Professionals looking to strengthen their English for career growth.
- Learners seeking to study English online in an interactive environment.
Yes, students who successfully complete the Advanced 2 level with a grade of 80% or higher will receive a program Certificate of Completion from Arizona State University’s Global Launch program. This certificate can be used to meet the English proficiency requirement for most ASU degree programs.
If you want to change from Online Immersion to the Campus Immersion program, please email [email protected] at least one month before you wish to change.
Because both programs offer the same learning outcomes, you can switch easily between Online Immersion and Campus Immersion. Your advisor will help you follow U.S. Immigration requirements.
Classes are at 6:30 a.m. - 7:45 a.m. Arizona time.
Session dates and class times are subject to change.
You must have daily access to a computer or laptop, a strong internet connection, and a functioning microphone, speaker and camera. You will be required to attend Zoom classes and to participate with camera on.
Yes. The Online Immersion program includes weekly real-time interaction with the teacher and classmates, plus 7-10 hours a week of self-study exercises assigned by the teacher. You can also meet the teacher during office hours and receive personalized support from a tutor.
Attendance and participation in class are an important part of the learning process. If you do not attend class, you will not learn the skills necessary to move to the next level. Absences and missed class time will negatively impact course grades.

Tuition and fees
Tuition and fees cover the cost of the program and services:
- Live group classes
- All course materials
- Advising with personalized Success Coaches
- Assistance from the Virtual Welcome Desk
- Access to ASU online library collections
Tuition is required and cannot be waived or reduced.
Tuition will be charged to your My ASU account at the start of classes. You can pay online by credit card or bank transfer.
Program comparisons
Global Launch offers many online programs, but Online Immersion is the only one that offers weekly live class time via Zoom. For students who are looking to study online but prefer interaction with an instructor and classmates, Online Immersion is a great option. Online Immersion can also be used to meet the English proficiency requirement for ASU admission.
Students
Yes, you can participate in the Online Immersion program outside the U.S.
This depends on your immigration status. Online Immersion does not meet the in-person enrollment requirement for F-1 students.
However, the program is open to individuals here in a different status that doesn't require full-time enrollment, including U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and various other visa types.
