What is Campus Immersion?

The Campus Immersion English Language Program from Global Launch at Arizona State University (ASU) is one of the country's leading on-campus, intensive English language learning experiences.

Designed for all levels — from beginner to advanced — the program helps students learn English or to strengthen their English speaking, listening, reading and writing skills while preparing for ASU admission and future professional success. You will be immersed in learning English with students from around the world, will receive personalized instructor support and work toward a certificate that satisfies ASU’s English language requirement for admission to many degree programs.

Program details

There are 6 total levels in the Campus Immersion English Language Program, from basic to advanced. Each level takes eight weeks to complete (2 basic levels, 2 intermediate levels, 2 advanced levels). 

You will be placed in the level that matches your current skills. Students with stronger English proficiency can complete fewer sessions, while those building foundational skills will need additional levels to develop confidence and fluency.

After enrolling, you will complete an official placement test to ensure you begin at the level that best fits your current English proficiency.

Students who successfully finish the highest level of the Campus Immersion English Language Program with a grade of B- (80%) or higher earn a certificate of completion. This certificate fulfills the English proficiency requirement for admission to Arizona State University.

Eligibility

The Global Launch Campus Immersion English Language Program is designed for English language learners at any skill level.

 

Campus Immersion Requirements:

  • Applicants must at least be 18–years–old OR 17–years–old with proof of high school graduation and parental consent.

     

  • Applicants are not required to take the TOEFL, IELTS, PTE or any other English proficiency exam for admission into the Global Launch Campus Immersion English Language Program.

     

In this program, you’ll participate in weekly scheduled on-campus classes, engaging social activities as well as self-study to help you build, practice and master your English skills alongside classmates from many countries.

  • In-person classes: attend 21 hours per week of live classroom instruction focused on reading, writing, listening and speaking, where you will interact with instructor and classmates.
  • Homework and practice: complete weekly assignments to support steady progress while reinforcing what you learn in class.
  • Ongoing support: get help from full-time student support staff that provide academic advising, tutoring and student support services with a focus on university preparation, academic and professional development.
  • Campus experience: enjoy access to ASU facilities, social and academic clubs and events to help practice English outside the classroom.
  • Social activities and field trips: participate in several social and cultural immersion activities like sporting events, conversation groups, parties and field trips to practice English in a variety of real-world settings while experiencing American culture.

You will build the confidence to communicate effectively in both academic and social environments by collaborating on team projects, developing strong academic writing skills and delivering presentations with clarity and professionalism.

Throughout your studies, you will strengthen key English language areas, including:

  • Speaking: share ideas in discussions and present information clearly.
  • Listening: understand lectures, conversations and multimedia content.
  • Reading: interpret academic materials and everyday texts with greater accuracy.
  • Writing: produce organized essays, reports and professional emails.
  • Grammar and Vocabulary: use precise language to express yourself confidently and correctly.
